Howdy folks! Towser here with a quick update! The Tavern is being built as we speak! Its a lot of work, but its going to be worth it! Right now I would like to just send a little message out concerning your talent!
That’s right! The Tavern is looking for interesting people that wanna write a column, or contribute their music/art/videos! So email Griffin and tell him you want to be a part of the Taverns regulars, or that have something you want us to cover! The Tavern has its own news team that’s thoroughly committed to investigating anything that sounds wild, crazy, awesome, or just plain good for the community! Remember, here at the Tavern, we are fighting the Norm by all means necessary! If I want normal I will go to church or the grocery store! If I want bizarre and strange with some eccentricity then I go to the Tavern, were its safe! (HST Quote sorta).
Folks, let me tell ya! I am watching one hell of a Kansas sunrise as we speak…and it comes after sitting around a campfire during an all night thunderstorm with crazed lightning and universal rain that forced us to repent our transgressions to mother earth. Gopod friends and fellowship, and good beer as well.
This weekend is going to be a busy one…expect updates videos and pics soon once again.
We are working on a lot here at the Tavern…Towsers been crammed in his old office full of recluses, highlife empties, and coffee stained papers working on the future of this blog, and let me tell you, a lot of build up has been posted here, but god damn it! Its going to be well worth your wooden nickle! So hang on to your horses and saddle up, cuz we’re about to take you into the sunset and show you the true Kansas way of what we like to call, Total Immersion! Everything in Excess! By the way folks, that music you are hearing happened on a very special day. A Lawrence Kansas music collaboration of sorts was kindled on Monday May 4th of 2009. The illusive band known as Noise Limiter got together with DJ Godzilla and rocked some jams. The song in the video above is one of many. It was the first time they played together…but damn, it worked! So go check out his Myspace and listen to some of his tunes. We hope to showcase him soon at the Tavern! Also go check him out at the Tap Room on Thursdays where he spins funk, disco, early hip hop and anything you can dance to.
Folks, It’s posted! Let me tell ya’ll just what the hell is happening! We are gettin’ ready for one hell of an August! We will be covering Justin Case, our woodland corespondent, as he says fuck off landlords! I ain’t paying no rent to you! And he’ll say it loud, let me tell ya! This August 1st, he’s headed out to the woods to live, and hes going to invite you to the camp ground here on the ol’ internetty! Talk about trials and tribulations!
Not only that, but we are going to get with a local Lawrence band and see just what the hell it takes to be a band drowning in poverty! Thats right…the illusive yet popular band known as Noise Limiter. I know a lot of you folks are trying to get a hold of these guys but they’re squirmy little rascals! They set up crazy gorilla shows with little to no notice, and have set this region on fire as far as the underground music scene goes! I also heard that despite their financial situation, they are building a recording studio in a secret unknown location, and I have an inside contact that is guaranteeing me unlimited coverage of this spectacle. I figure the band is wanting people that live out side the region to get a taste of their music. But I heard that these boys aren’t making music for the purpose of popularity or money, but for the pure joy of music, and sharing it with people. They hate the fact that a lot of the music today sounds the same. They are just concerned that the world is turning square on them, and hell, the worlds a goddamned globe! Not a box! Anyhow, we will have some videos and sound clips up soon.
Besides all this bee’s wax, we will be covering a couple other local bands, yet to be named, and we will be following their progress as well. Not to mention, full coverage of the Walnut Valley Music Festival in Winfield Kansas This September! Hell yes we will be down there chuggin whiskey and beer, and reporting in a Gonzo fashion in honor of our hero HST!

Howdy Folks! We’re back from our camping trip down there out at camp Gaea, and we are a little worn out and missed out on a Noise Limiter Session. With this confession comes the bad part…no band footage. we’re so apologetic that we promise to have something up this week that is worth a hoot and a hollar…so check back soon! That band is just so illusive that we can’t seem to get any coverage of them. Even those goons Arnie Shmile and Griffin can’t seem to get any coverage and there sponsored by cooperate!
We will get a grip and get back to you folks soon! Sit tight! We got a clip, followed by a podcast and webisode…all coming up before august 1st, or my name ain’t Towser Magnum Renegade!
Just a quick update to let you know what we are actually working on…
1. Fist and foremost our band Noise Limiter (name subject to change- See last post) is writing music, and documenting the evolution of a band and what it takes to get a band started against all odds.
2. A home studio capable of above average sound quality, as well as documenting the building and evolution of its construction and us learning the ins and outs through trial and error.
3. A podcast showcasing local and regional people that are doing strange and interesting things. Also heavily based on music and the paranormal. The show will have a very AM morning feel to it being that we parody radio talk shows including shows similar to “Coast To Coast”, or those cheesy cooperate Morning drive shows.
4. Using an HD camcorder, we will be documenting everything listed above plus making webisodes that complement the podcast.
5. This blog, which will serve as the meeting point for our giant endeavor! Stick around folks! The storm is coming!
Its Hot as hell outside, with no hope of that changing in at least one week.
The band as a whole is broke and therefore at a standstill.
No rentals seem to be available that are in our price range nor big enough to put the Noise Lab in or for that matter our humble little home studio.
Jobs are cutting their hours and therefore sending us further into brokedom.
Harvey the dog is still pissing on everything and occasionally attacking one of us in the band.
Noise Limiter as a band name is possibly cursing us from making Noise, so a name change is imminent.
It may seem bad, but we like a challenge here at Noise Limiter Radio, and folks, we will overcome this. As Gang of Four once said…”To hell with poverty! We’ll get drunk on cheap wine!”. And so we stagger on, pulling the shrapnel from our sides and re-plotting our own destiny to make wonderfully strange, yet danceable rock music for you and us alike! So stay tuned! We will be producing some webisodes with a HD camera soon, and that’s guaranteed to bring some action down from heavens!

There is a local Bigfoot hunting group, right here in the heart of Downtown Lawrence Kansas. We have been in communication with them, and are currently setting up a time with these experts to go hunt for ol’ Sasquatch! And we are going to film the whole damn fiasco! So stay tuned! Plus a good friend of ours is gearing up to go live in the woods for a month and we are going to have him on the show to talk about what preparations he is taking and just why in the hell he is doing this in the first place! All this and more coming very soon!
Preparing for a Noise Lab Session tonight! Folks, its coming, a storm bigger than Texas even! I Towser Magnum Renegade can attest to something greater than we can even imagine floating around there in that big ole’ collective conscience! So saddle up your space horse and get ready to trot into the unknown. I know I have fed nothing but extreme hype into your minds, but I wouldn’t spread this here hype if I didn’t think the whole spectacle wasn’t worth a hoot!
